Pads Located Outside the Board Outline – Edge Plating Confirmation Required

Reason for Review:

Your design shows that some pads extend beyond the board outline, making it unclear whether these are intended for edge plating or simply a design oversight.

PCBfast needs confirmation before production to ensure the correct handling of copper at the board edge.

PCBfast Suggestions:

1. If edge plating is required, please select “Metallization edge” when placing your online order and mark the plated edge locations clearly in your Gerber files.  

2. If edge plating is not needed, PCBfast will ignore pads outside the board outline and only manufacture those within the board boundary. Note that minor burrs may appear around the cut edges.

3. Alternatively, PCBfast can cut back the copper during fabrication, ensuring a 0.25 mm clearance between copper and the board outline to prevent short circuits or exposed copper.

Providing this clarification ensures precise edge processing and consistent board quality.
